Tell us a bit about you and your blog.

My name is Xenia I am 21 years old and I am from Germany. I am studying nutrition and I just love being active, being outside, animals, singing and dancing, to be creative and of course to help other people to create their dream life. I’ve been vegan for two years now and it was the best decision I’ve ever made for my health. With this lifestyle, I developed myself a lot and I learned a lot about being aware, kind in the present moment. I love to share my experiences that I made in my past with other people because I made some mistakes and I hope that other people can learn from it.

When did you start blogging and why?

I started blogging at the beginning of 2015. At first, I just wanted to create something like an online diary for myself to motivate myself to keep the vegan lifestyle and just keep me going. But my motivation changed over the time and now I don’t do it for myself but more for other people and that’s a really awesome feeling!

Where do you get your recipe inspiration from?

I have to confess that I never cook by following a recipe when I cook for myself. I never measure amounts and just take a little bit of this, a little bit of that … haha. But this is how I create my own recipes. I am highly intuitive when it comes to recipe creation and I try a lot of different things. I think Pinterest and Instagram can be a really good source for inspiration! There are a lot of accounts sharing delicious vegan food and beautiful pictures of it. But for myself, I go with my gut feeling.

What are the biggest challenges and greatest rewards of being a food blogger?

The biggest challenges are getting subscribers at the beginning. To establish your blog and social media channels and to build a reputation. For some people it’s really challenging to grow their Instagram or YouTube account. And the most important thing is not to quit. It always takes time and success doesn’t happen overnight and requires hard work and grit. Do your own thing and believe in yourself, I think this is sometimes the hardest part of it. But in the end all the nice comments, the lovely message from people that appreciate what you do and tell you how much you have helped them and how much they love what you do, it is totally worth the effort!

The greatest rewards for me personally are when people tell me that they became vegan because of my blog or social media and that I changed their life completely. That is such a great feeling to know that you helped someone to improve his or hers whole life, overall health and that they got back this thrive for living.

What are your interests outside of blogging?

I love to live a healthy and active lifestyle. I love healthy, vegan food and all kinds of outdoor activities like hiking, running, biking and swimming. I own a road bike that I would never miss again in my life! Travelling is also one of my favourite things to do. In 3 weeks I will travel to Thailand for the first time in my life and I am already so excited! I love to film YouTube videos, taking pictures, singing, dancing and caring for others and especially animals. I think I am really interested in everything where I can be creative and outside.

How long have you been vegan and what inspired you?

I am vegan for 2 years now. I was a vegetarian before because I’ve always loved animals. But then I learned more about the production of animal products like dairy or eggs and how bad they treat the animals. I think that was enough for me to go vegan. After I watched the movie “Earthlings” I decided that I will never ever eat something non-vegan again.


What would be your top tips for someone who wants to transition into a plant-based lifestyle?

The first tip would be to eat whole foods. Fruits, vegetables, grains, rice, potatoes, sweet potatoes…. And don’t make it complicated! Sure there are a lot of delicious vegan recipes out there but I think for the beginning it’s easier to eat simple meals. Choose your favourite foods and eat until you are satisfied! When you start to eat more whole foods you often have to eat more volume to be satisfied and for a lot of people that’s challenging at the beginning but your body will adapt in a few days or weeks you just have to keep going! You will love the way you feel and all the energy you will have!

What’s your go-to breakfast?

Fresh Fruits or oatmeal depends on the weather and temperature… hahaha.

You serve up some pretty delicious dishes in our Coconut Bowls! What is your favourite thing to eat out of your bowls?

I eat everything out of bowls! Hahaha …. I just love eating out of bowls. They are perfect for everything but I think my favourite things are banana ice cream also called “nice cream”, oatmeal or muesli.

What is your favourite thing about your Coconut Bowls?

They are just beautiful, they look really pretty on pictures and I just love the material. My favourite one is the natural coconut bowl because I love the raw material on the outside!
